Yes. Absolutely. Although when it comes to witches, witchcraft, and magic… there isn’t really such a thing as ‘black’ or ‘white’. In the same way that no one wakes up and decides to be ‘evil’ - and that people you and I might consider as ‘evil’ often see themselves as victims, thereby feeling quite justified doing the evil that they do - I’ve never met a witch yet who decided she that was going to be a ‘black witch’, or a ‘white witch’, or that the magic in which she dabbles is particularly dark or light in nature.

There are only witches. And magic.

As you can imagine, the witches of ancient times were extremely powerful and respected individuals within their communities. Little wonder then that as mainstream religion spread across the world, those church leaders (men!) didn’t want a bunch of women getting in the way of what was, and still is, a very useful and lucrative way of controlling the masses. 

For more than 500 years, the church, the establishment, scientists - anybody for whom power and respect is a valuable commodity - sought to ‘blacken’ the name of witches, witchcraft and magic.

am the modern day counterpart to the solitary young woman, living in the hut, in the woods, in ancient times. Except that I do not live in a hut. Or in the woods. And I don't have hook nose. Nor do I have a cauldron (well, not a big one anyway), and I’ve never plucked the eye from a newt (or any other living creature) - but I am still the one whom the lost and the lonely, the desperate and the sad, the wronged and the cursed, the unlucky and the unloved - seek out for assistance. And when they do, I use magic - yet-to-be-explained science, to help them.
